One Cubic Inch of Topsoil

One little cubic inch of topsoil...
Ever
stop to wonder how long it takes to "grow" just one cubic inch of good
topsoil? All the ingredients in a well-balanced forest; all the trees,
mushrooms, plants, animals, worms, bugs, flies, microbes and other decaying
matter require 100 years of summer, fall, winter and spring; hot spells,
cool spells, dry spells and wet spells just to make a single tiny cubic
inch of topsoil. The U.S. alone loses a strip of topsoil 1/4-mile wide
and 3,000 miles long every year, from all forms of poor land care practices.
That is almost the distance from Charleston, South Carolina to San José,
California! Every person using wood products, including the owner of
JH Lumber, is guilty of this practice. John, however, is trying to change
this practice in his own way. Now, with this information in mind, please
take a look at the prices and products available
.
I
have also taken the environmental issue one step further along. The
question arises when one thinks he is logging their property in an environmentally
friendly way. "When you use machinery in the process of removing logs,
don't you think the fuels and oils we use in this equipment should be
biodegradable as well?" I have since formed another company called
Dog River Alternative Fuels Co.
LLC. and we make a fuel from waste cooking oils called Biodiesel.
I use this fuel that we make, in all my tractors and sawmill equipment.
We also have a license from the state of Vermont to sell this fuel to
others whom are interested. For more info on my other company go to
www.VeggieFuels.com . This
site was set up by one of my partners in this new venture. If we ruin
the soil with non-biodegrade fuel we will not make good topsoil.
