Statement from the Author John with one of his workhorses, Dick In the Beginning, Man was given dominion over the Earth. This does not, contrary to common belief, mean we were created to dominate the Earth. It means we were given stewardship; we were charged with caring for our planet. The past 6,000 years of recorded history don't show our having done a very good job. In fact, it is my belief that, if we do not begin doing a much better job, and soon, we may not continue living on this planet as its caretakers. We have to treat our forests as giant gardens. When too many weeds grow, we weed it; we do not simply cut out the entire garden. When crops mature and ripen, we harvest the ripe fruits, without taking them all. So, how do we do this? Caring people, education and certification is a beginning. Caring people is pretty self-explanatory. This site is dedicated to the other parts; making people aware of the different kinds of logging, and their results, is education. Bringing about the realization of the need for certification educates everybody else, and, I have found, many people do genuinely care about what a difference this makes. I am hoping to put some of the material out into the retail marketplace, at a reasonable price, so everybody can enjoy playing with wood as I have. I treat wood like others treat precious gems or gold; I care about what I do and how I do it, and I know that there are people out there who care just as much as I do. So, welcome, my reader.
